Pres. Ali praises historic performance by Nicolette Fernandes at World Masters

Head of State President Mohamed Irfaan Ali extended heartfelt congratulations to Nicolette Fernandes on winning the Gold medal at the World Masters Over-35 Squash Championships.

Fernandes had a historic showing at the event where she became the first Guyanese, male or female, to secure a World Masters squash title.

This accolade came about when she demonstrated her prowess on the court by defeating South African, Slyoli Waters in straight sets during her final round robin encounter.

President Ali noted that her ‘stellar performance’ brought ‘national glory’ to Guyana, while acclaiming her to be one of Guyana’s most inspirational sporting heroines. He also wished her continued success.
