35-year-old Duane Johnson and his child’s mother, Nadine Jeffrey, 32, were on Friday slapped with drug trafficking charges.
The duo appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson in the Lethem Magistrate’s Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
As a result, bail was granted in the sum of $300,000 each, and the matter was adjourned to October 26, 2022.
MTV News Update reported that on October 6, a party of Police ranks intercepted a motorcar in which Johnson was the driver. At the time, Jeffrey and her nine-month-old son were in the car.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 13 bulky parcels wrapped in plastic in a black haversack stashed in the car’s trunk.
In the presence of the duo, the marijuana weighed 8,045.4 grams, while the cocaine weighed 1314.8 grams. Police had said that Johnson admitted ownership to the drugs.
