“You gah live with it if he dead” – Brother-in-law tells mother of missing teen

16-year-old Akeem Bisson.

It has been over a month since 16-year-old Akeem Bissoon mysteriously disappeared while working at Aruwai Airstrip in Region Seven.

Jennifer Henry, the mother of the teen claims that the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of her son are sinister and she is now demanding answers.

He was last seen by Andrew Harlequin, his uncle on June 14 around 17:00 hours. He was reportedly taken to the Aruwai Airstrip by Harlequin to work without his mother’s knowledge.

The missing teen was sitting outside of Harlequin’s camp when he reportedly turned his back and within two to three minutes, he disappeared.

His phone was found where he was sitting but his slippers were found one mile away on the trail from where he was last seen.

Rafeek Ghani, Henry’s other brother-in-law called her on Wednesday, June 15 to inform her that her son went missing around 10:00 hours on the same day however, Harlequin told her that her son was missing since Tuesday.

Jennifer Henry, mother of the teen during an interview with MTV News Update said details of her son’s disappearance given by her two brothers-in law are confusing.

“Up to now, from then to now, I never see Andrew Harlequin he never call me, he never come by me to apoplogise not even to show sympathy nothing. The night when everybody see I put it up in the news, them call and them cuss me up," she related.

She said too that Ghani told her that if her son is dead, she would have to live with it. “I tell he [her daughter’s father] ask Rafeek and hear wuh he gone tell you how really Andrew tell them what happened or how it happened. He tell my daughter father that, everybody got to dead, and if Akeem dead, Jenny got to live with duh, she gah live with duh, that was he word.”

Henry said since her son’s disappearance she have been experiencing sleepless nights and has been neglecting her health.

On the day before his disappearance, Bissoon reportedly sent a message to his mother saying ‘‘I justify my life to you’’ and this was the last time she heard from her son.

“I’m still hoping and praying that with God, all things possible, you never know sometimes he could be alive somewhere but on the other hand [...] if Andrew Harlequin know exactly what happened to he because he was the last person with he, whether them murder he, whether them sell he to somebody […] but even if Akeem should die, I know we all have to die at least leh I see the boy body, even got a funeral, he was not a dog.”

She also claimed that the operators of a nearby dredge left the area leaving behind everything on the day of her son’s disappearance. A missing person’s report was made at the Bartica Police Station and the Isano Police Station in Region 7.

Harlequin was arrested and placed in police custody for 72 hours but was released after no concrete evidence was found to link him to the teen’s appearance.
