Woman fined for assaulting ‘Guyanese Critic’
A British citizen was on Monday hauled before the Sparendaam Magistrate's Court to answer an assault charge committed on social media commentator Mikhail Rodrigues, popularly known as ‘Guyanese Critic.’
The woman, Olivia Reneesia Bazilio, 28, of Lot 281 Blue Saki Drive South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Alisha George and pleaded guilty to the charge. As a result, she was fined $15,000.
Reports are that the woman assaulted Rodrigues while he was live streaming an accident on the Le Ressouvenir Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Saturday morning.
In a video seen by MTV News Update, Bazilio approached Rodrigues and dealt him a punch. Following the ordeal, the social media commentator said a report was lodged with the United Kingdom High Commissioner to Guyana.
