Human remains found following Bee Hive fire

Human remains suspected to be those of a 62-year-old man were discovered in the aftermath of a fire that destroyed two houses at Bee Hive Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD), late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
Police said the blaze occurred between 23:50 hrs on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, and 01:00 hrs on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Destroyed in the fire were the home of Davanand Sawh, called “Cheow,” 62, unemployed, and the house of 64-year-old farmer Vidishwar Ramkissoon. Both men are from Bee Hive Village.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that ranks who visited the scene found both buildings completely destroyed. The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) also responded and extinguished the blaze.
After the fire was put out, searches were carried out in the debris, and what appeared to be human remains were discovered at the premises. The remains are suspected to be those of Sawh.
The remains were escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where they are awaiting a post-mortem examination. No other persons were reported injured during the incident.
