Vending still ongoing outside GPHC – Attorney
Despite efforts by the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (GM&CC) to remove vendors from outside the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, those endeavours have not been deemed satisfactory.
This is the position of the hospital’s attorney, Sase Gunraj, who noted that vendors are still plying their trade, and encumbrances are still in the vicinity of the health institution. However, when contacted, acting Town Clerk Candance Nelson said she had not received such a report on the situation.
“I have seen pictures from Sunday’s exercise, and the place was cleared. I did not receive any report that vendors were there today,” Nelson told MTV News Update.
Nelson acknowledged that there are still vendors on Middle Street near the hospital due to an oversight in issuing removal notices to them.
“There was an oversight that those persons weren’t given notices, and we did not remove them since notices were not issued to them. We decided we would issue them with notices first and allow them to move their structures. If they do not, we would attempt to move them. Those are the only structures I am aware of,” the acting Town Clerk stated.
According to the previous notice, these vendors have been impeding the smooth traffic flow in the vicinity of the hospital, which is the country’s largest health institution.
