Unvaccinated woman, 30 among two COVID-19 deaths; 35 new cases

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has gone up to 1,247 after two more persons died on Saturday after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.

The latest fatalities are a 30-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region Three and a 46-year-old fully vaccinated woman from Region Six.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health recorded 35 new cases within the last 24-hour, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 2020 to 66,491.

Of the 35 new cases recorded on Saturday, one was from Region Two, five from region Three, 22 from Region Four, and seven from Region Eight.

There are two persons within the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 28 persons in institutional isolation. 867 persons are in home isolation, along with six in institutional quarantine.

A total of 651,912 COVID-19 tests have been done to date, and 66,491 persons have tested positive. Out of 66,491 positives, 64,347 persons have recovered, bringing the total number of active cases to 897.
