Four sisters, who are Venezuelan nationals were today remanded to prison for the attempted murder of a 16-year-old girl.

22-year-old Evelyn Alfonso, 20-year-old Roxanna Alfonso, along with their two younger siblings, aged 14 and 16, were arraigned before City Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

They were not required to plea to the charge, which alleged that on January 28, 2022, at Cummings Street, Georgetown, they attempted to murder the victim.

Evelyn and Roxanna were remanded to prison while the teens' siblings were remanded to the Sophia Juvenile Holding Centre. They are scheduled to make another court appearance on February 11, 2022.

The court heard that on the day in question, the victim was at Cummings Street in the company of her aunt when she was confronted by the four accused.

The 14 and 16-year-old were armed with knives while the others had bricks and used it to attack the victim and her aunt.

A scuffle ensued, during which, the victim was stabbed to the neck by the two teens.
