Rehabilitation work commences on Lamaha Street, to be completed within four months

A $64.9M contract was recently awarded to Devcon Construction and Contracting Services and the contractor has already commenced preparatory works around the area. This will allow road users to finally travel with ease as several concerns were raised after the road began to deteriorate and sink into the trench along Lamaha Street. Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill told MTV News Update that the project would be strictly monitored. “The ministry strictly monitors all projects, so this one is no different and we expect this project to be wrapped up in a couple of months…” The Department of Public Information (DPI) had reported that a revetment would be built to Support the Lamaha Street and that the road would be widened to support the left turning lane at the intersection. The project also includes a pedestrian walkway. Minister Edghill said the rehabilitation works are expected to be completed within four months, in accordance with the contractual obligations. “It will be finished before the end of the year.”
