Prison officer found with ganja in shoes at Georgetown Prison, remanded

A Prison Officer, who was busted in the Georgetown Prison with a quantity of marijuana concealed in his shoes, was charged and remanded to prison.


26-year-old Ashford Adams was hauled before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.


Adams denied the charge, which stated that on November 3, 2022, at Georgetown Prison, he had 22.5 grams of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.


He was remanded to prison, and the matter was adjourned to December 13, 2022, for statements.


Reports are that on the day in question, Adams reported for work and acting on information, a search was conducted on him. During the search, a quantity of cannabis leaves was found in his shoes in plastic.
