Police probe discovery of 9mm pistol, ammunition at Georgetown primary school

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched a probe into the discovery of a firearm and ammunition at a primary school in Georgetown on Monday.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that a teacher was in her classroom when she received a report of a suspicious sound coming from a student’s desk.

Checks were subsequently carried out, during which a firearm was found under the desk. Police ranks were later summoned to the school, where they took possession of a 9mm pistol along with 11 matching rounds of ammunition.

The firearm and ammunition were escorted to a police station, where they were lodged pending further investigations. Investigators have since made contact with persons in relation to the firearm, and statements were taken.
