A 22-year-old man, who was busted with an unlicenced firearm and ammunition in his crotch, was on Tuesday sentenced to two years behind bars.
Dave Williams, a labourer of Skull City, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was hauled before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty in the Vreed-En-Hoop Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty to the charges.
The first charge stated that on October 9, 2022, Williams had a .38 snub nose Revolver in his possession without being a licenced firearm holder.
It was further stated that on the said date and location, he had three .38 live ammunition in his possession without being a licenced firearm holder.
The Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) previously stated that Williams was arrested at about 15:15h on the day in question riding motorcycle CJ 2534.
After being stopped, a search was carried out, and the revolver and the ammunition were found. He was told of the offence, arrested, and cautioned. He replied, saying he got the firearm from “Sherwin.”
