Jeffrey returns to winning ways in Radical Caribbean Cup

A welcome return to motorsport was what Guyanese Kristian Jeffrey found last weekend when the Radical Caribbean Cup started its 2022 season in Barbados.

Jeffrey was crowned champion driver at the end of the three-race round on Sunday after qualifying on the pole Saturday.

In the first race, Jeffrey had a hard-fought battle with 2018 champion Stuart Maloney, the duo dueling over the eight-lap race distance with Jeffrey getting the better of Maloney; Trinidadian Kristian Boodoosingh finishing third.

Race two was a reverse grid with Jeffrey starting at the back of the pack, never recovering from a lap one contact to finish eighth, with Stuart Maloney ending seventh.

Race three would determine the day’s champion driver, with Jeffrey and Maloney being the two major contenders. And when the dust settled, the Guyanese reigned supreme.

According to Jeffrey, “whoever had finished in front of each other would be the champion driver. I knew I had to keep my foot down and be consistent and try and stay in front of him and bring It home. Luckily, everything panned out well.” Round three is set for later this year in Barbados.
