Housewife remanded to prison over murder of reputed husband
A housewife, who stabbed her reputed husband to death after he allegedly attempted to kill her, was on Friday charged and remanded to prison.
Aquiella Abrams of Onion Field, La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arraigned before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court.
She was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which stated that on October 10, 2022, at Lot 109 Sideline Dam, Golden Grove, ECD, she murdered 40-year-old Michael Wilson. She was remanded to prison until November 30.
MTV News Update previously reported that Abrams and Wilson shared an abusive two-year relationship, and he would constantly accuse her of infidelity.
Abrams had told Wilson that she was ending the relationship, which triggered a heated argument.
However, as the woman packed her things to leave on the day in question, a scuffle ensued, and the 40-year-old man allegedly attacked her with a knife.
During the fight, the woman managed to get hold of the knife and stab Wilson twice. She also received stab wounds during the ordeal.
The duo was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where Wilson succumbed to his injuries.
