Gov't to ask National Assembly for more money to do community works

The Government will be moving to the National Assembly for the approval of more money to continue making interventions into communities.

This was announced by President Irfaan Ali at the sidelines of a recent event held at the Pegasus Hotel.

Ali told reporters that he is committed to working with all Guyanese and even more so bring relief.

"I want to work with people, I will come to every door. I was in South (Ruimveldt) immediately there are things that have to be done. I will go in Buxton, I will go in Canje, I will go in the Rupunini wherever it takes because I want to work with every single Guyanese with every group."

To this end the Head of State stated that, "I have asked the Minister of Finance immediately to do works on a supplementary provision."

A supplementary provision or supplementary budget is a request for additional funds during the course of the year.

Though the President did not go into details as to how much funds will be sought, a total of $5b was allocated in Budget 2022 for community infrastructure works.
