GMMAF discusses plans to further develop GPF Martial Arts Academy

The President of Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation Gavin Singh met with Commission of Police(ag) Clifton Hickens of Guyana Police Force last Friday to discuss working together with the Guyana Police Force Martial Arts Academy for further develop integral aspect in promoting mix martial for the club's athletes over the next two years.


Some of the objectives include sportsman leadership such as:

1. The Power of Mind

2. Winning: Goal or Gold

3. From Dream to Reality.


Commissioner Hickens has always given his full support to development of the sport since we commenced discussions in 2019 and has been zealous for growth of his athletes grow. Hence the Production of well rounded athletes in the Guyana Police Force will help foster a better working culture and attitude towards their colleagues, superiors and citizenry.


We are currently in process of having a program executed that will have the athletes certified in Leadership.


Training and development for all athletes is a major factor the Federation. This is objective not only of Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation but also the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation.


Our Federation has always indicated to our Sponsors that the financial support aids contributes to this in so many ways.


The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports continues to play a significant role and follow up discussions are expected in the near future between President Gavin Singh and Minister Charles Ramson Jr. for similar programs aimed at the youths development in various communities.


Additionally, Jason Fraser, Head for Caribbean Region within the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, also extended sincere congratulations to Commission Hickens in his recent appointment.


"I must state that I had the privilege to meet with him on three occasions before concerning the development of Mixed Martial Arts in the Guyana Police Force and there athlete's which commission is super passionate about for the future of Guyana Police Force club."

The Commissioner has always been committed to supporting the Guyana Police Force Mixed Martial arts team in their approach to achieve to the highest level. Both locally regionally and internationally we the IMMAF will continue to work together for the development and best practices in moving forward in Panthership with the Guyana Police Force Mixed Martial arts club and by extension all of Guyana through the Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation under its President Gavin Singh.
