Elderly man collapses and dies in New Amsterdam

The Police in Berbice are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a New Amsterdam pensioner who collapsed and died at the junction of Republic and Trinity Street on Monday morning.

He has been identified as Charlie Bahudar of Theatre Alley New Amsterdam.

While details surrounding the incident are unclear, persons in the area recalled seeing the elderly man walking along the street with a bag in his hand. He later collapsed on the road shoulder.

Investigators were called to the scene and they are currently on the ground conducting the investigation.
