East Ruimveldt man remanded for narcotics possession

One day after arrested with his wife with suspected narcotics and several types of ammunition, 49-year-old Julian Aaron was on Friday remanded to prison.


Aaron of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was hauled before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.


The charge states that on June 2, 2022, at Guinep lane, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he had 1.26 kilogram of marijuana in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.


The court heard that on the day in question, ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) went to Guinep lane, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and discovered a quantity of suspected narcotics and several types of ammunition.


The 49-year-old man and his 46-year-old wife were arrested and taken to CANU’s Headquarters with the suspected narcotics and ammunition.


The narcotics tested positive for cannabis, while 130 pieces of ammunition were discovered.

After listening to the facts of the matter, Magistrate Daly remanded the man to prison and adjourned the case to July 8.
