A businessman from West Ruimveldt was today slapped with a robbery with violence charge.
Dequon Robinson was hauled before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The particular of the charge stated that on March 9, 2022, at Railway Embankment, Kitty, Georgetown, he robbed Boze Ramdass of one Samsung Galaxy phone valued at $28,000 while using personal violence at the time.
The court heard that on the day in question, Ramdass left his girlfriend's home to head home, and it was while he was waiting for a taxi the defendant approached him on a motorcycle, demanding that he hand over his valuables.
Ramdass refused, and Robinson dealt him a lash to his left cheek with an unknown object, causing injuries. He then snatched Ramdass's phone, making good his escape.
