Businessman found with illegal guns, ammo in crotch remanded

A businessman who was found with two illegal guns and ammunition was charged and remanded to prison.


Adrian Singh, 29, called ‘Neil’ of Lot 164 Bladen Hall, East Coast Demerara (ECD), appeared before Magistrate Fabio Azore in the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.


He was slapped with two counts of unlawful possession of firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition. The matter was adjourned to January 20, 2023.


The Court heard that ranks acting on information received went to 2J's Supermarket located at Strathspey, ECD, where they made contact with the 29-year-old businessman.


A search was conducted on his person, and one black .32 Taurus Pistol with eight live matching rounds of ammunition was found in his crotch.


A further search was carried out on him, and in his left-side pants pocket, the ranks found one black and silver firearm with seven live matching rounds of ammunition.
