In a night of beautiful renditions by local artists, exquisite fashion displays of the various township, and loud cheers by the crowd, 21-year-old Amel Griffith was crowned Miss Jamzone 2022 at the National Cultural Centre on Saturday evening.
With elegance, intelligence, and poise backed by pageantry experience, Amel outclassed her seven other competitors and walked away with a brand-new Nissan Juke.
She also copped prizes for Best Fantasy Swimwear, Best National Costume, and Best Talent. At the tender age of 18 in 2019, Amel was crowned Miss Bartica Regatta.
Meanwhile, the first runner-up went to Jasmaine Assanah, who received a cash prize of $500,000. She also copped Miss Social Media and Miss Summer Body.
The second runner-up was Omaiah Hall, and she walked away with a $250,000 cash prize.
The pageant this year focused on tourism as each delegate was expected to represent one of Guyana’s townships.
