50-year-old man charged with illegal possession of guns and ammunition

has been remanded to prison for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
When Thomas appeared today before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The court heard that a party of policemen from East Ruimveldt Police Outpost went to Thomas' home, where a search was conducted.
During the search, one .38 Taurus Revolver was found in a hammock inside the house. When examined, the firearm contained five .38 rounds of ammunition inside the chamber.
The accused was asked if he has a license to carry the firearm and he responded in the negative.
As such, he was told of the offences committed, cautioned, arrested, and charged. He is expected to reappear in court on February 21.
