26 foreign women rescued during raid at Red Dragon

A total of 26 foreign women were rescued from the Red Dragon Nightclub, located on Robb Street, Georgetown, following a raid on Saturday.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that two Assistant Superintendents of Police conducted a search of the nightclub around 00:00h and 03:40h.

According to the police report, while no illegal items or evidence of criminal activity were found during the search, a total of 26 women were discovered in the nightclub.

The women of Venezuelan, Cuban, and Dominican Republic nationality were taken into custody for further questioning. Along with them, five male security guards and three barmen who were present at the club were also escorted to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters.

Back in March, a joint operation at the establishment had resulted in 44 women, all of whom were foreign nationals, being rescued and taken into protective care. It is unclear what came out of that investigation.
