15 Foreign nationals found during TIP operation at Bikers Bar
The Ministry of Home Affairs, the Counter Trafficking in Persons Unit, and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Thursday conducted a Trafficking-in-Persons (TIP) operation, resulting in 15 Foreign nationals being discovered and interviewed.
In a statement on Saturday, the Home Affairs Ministry disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 13:30h at Bikers Bar, located at Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
According to the Ministry, the investigation is being undertaken into the alleged acts of human trafficking and labour exploitation while one suspect is in custody.
“The Ministry will provide further updates as they become available and wish to further notify the public that the Guyana Police Force will continue to monitor these establishments,” the statement concluded.
