$100,000 cash grant for children with disabilities – President Ali

President Irfaan Ali has announced a cash grant of $100,000 for each child living with a disability in Guyana. The Head of state made the announcement while meeting with 150 persons living with disabilities at State House on Friday afternoon.

According to Dr. Ali this cash grant will be distributed annually to this vulnerable group of children across Guyana.

In addition, President Ali announced the establishment of disability centres in every region that will offer services to this vulnerable group. The Head of state also explained that there are about 1200 children living with disabilities registered and they will now be automatically be eligible for public assistance. This and a number of measures were revealed by the Head of state. Minister of Human Services and Social Protection Dr. Vindhya Persaud said these measures will ease a lot of the pain and the difficulties currently faced by this vulnerable group.
