A 24-year-old woman was on Friday arrested after being found with 28.17 grams of suspected marijuana at the Parika Beach, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).

A release from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that at about 19:30h, ranks acting on information received went to the location where the 24-year-old woman was seen on the beach.

The ranks approached the woman and requested to search her purse. During the search, a bulky plastic bag containing a quantity of seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.

The woman, under caution, told the ranks that she bought the drugs from someone at De Kinderen, on the West Coast of Demerara (WCD).

She was arrested and taken to the Parika Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed and amounted to 28.17 grams. The investigation is ongoing.
