Two hospitalised following drive-by shooting at Melanie Public Road
27-year-old Ryan Joseph and 29-year-old Bimal Veersammy are currently patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital in stable conditions after being shot by two unidentifiable males at Melanie Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Tuesday.
Reports are that the shooting occurred at about 20:30h. According to the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), Joseph and Veersammy and another male were liming in front of a residence when a silver Bluebird motorcar stopped in front of them.
“Two masked men then exited the back seat of the car and immediately opened fire on the victim, causing them to flee the area for safety,” the CCU said.
Joseph received five gunshot injuries about his body, while Veersammy received gunshot injuries to his right hand, elbow, and left leg above the knee. The third male managed to escape unhurt.
After the shooting, the two masked shooters re-entered the waiting motorcar and drove west, heading to Georgetown.
