Three arrested after Police find over 500 grams of ganja in abandoned lot

Three persons are in custody after Police found over 500 grams of marijuana in an abandoned lot at New Street, Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice, on Sunday.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that ranks went to the area, where a search was conducted at a premises occupied at the time by three individuals—two men, aged 28 and 27, and a 24-year-old female.

During the search, nothing illegal was found. However, a further search by one of the ranks led to the discovery of two bulky transparent parcels in an abandoned lot near the premises.

The parcels, upon examination, contained a quantity of marijuana.                                                                                                                                                        

The marijuana, when weighed, amounted to a total of 559 grams. The three individuals were arrested and are in custody as the investigation continues.
