Seven arrested as Berbice Cops conduct drug raids



The Police in Berbice are working overtime to bring a stop to the cultivation of marijuana and trafficking of marijuana across Region Six, East Berbice-Corentyne.


During one of it's recent intelligence led operation, seven adult males between the age of 25-46 years were arrested and are in police custody assisting the investigation into the discovery police of 65.7 lbs of marijuana.


The operation was carried out at Johanna South, Black Bush Polder and resulted in the arrest of the suspects as they were sitting next to the marijuana underneath a tent.


Regional Commander for Region Six, Shivpersaud Bacchus said that he intends to carry out several other operations with the hope of getting to the root of where the narcotics are being harvested.


Investigations into this latest find are continuing.
