Police seeking driver of getaway car used in murder of gold heist suspect

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of the getaway motorcar used in the murder of 23-year-old Sabutaro Singh, also known as ‘Mark.’


MTV News Update understands that investigators managed to identify the vehicle used by the suspect.


Singh of Lot 529 Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was fatally stabbed to the neck on Regent Street at about 18:00h on Wednesday.

According to the Police, Singh was selling kitchen utensils and other items in the company of two other males when the suspect approached him with a knife and dealt him a stab to the right side neck.


The victim immediately fell to the ground while the suspect fled the scene with the knife in his hand.


The 23-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene, and his body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for a Post Mortem Examination (PME).


The part-time vendor was previously charged with others for simple larceny with respect to the multi-million-dollar gold heist which occurred at Mahaica between July 2021 and September 2022.


Also, the Police said that on November 19, 2022, Singh was shot on his buttocks by an unidentifiable male, and that investigation is currently ongoing.
