Police raided two homes at Triumph on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) and unearthed a quantity of marijuana and several rounds of ammunition.

In a statement, the Police said that the raid was conducted at Lots 171 and 173 Ogle Street, Triumph, ECD, at about 13:40 and 15:30h.

A search was conducted in a shop at the first residence, where five transparent ziplock plastic bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis were found in a small box.

A further search was conducted, and the ranks discovered US$40 and $170,000 in a barrel. As a result, the ranks took possession of the money, suspected cannabis, and a female was told of the offence, cautioned, and arrested.

Further, the law enforcement officials moved to the second residence, where a search of the kitchen on the lower flat revealed a yellow sock.

Inside the sock were 417 suspected .22 rounds of ammunition and one suspected 12 gauge cartridge.

The ranks conducted a further search in the kitchen and observed a black and red box with four suspected .32 rounds of ammunition, and one suspected 9mm round of ammunition.

The suspected cannabis, rounds of ammunition, and money, along with the female, were escorted to the Beterverwagting Police Station. The cannabis was weighed in her presence and amounted to 7 grams. Investigations are continuing.
