Plane runs off airstrip at Eteringbang

A twin-engine Aircraft owned by Jags Aviation Limited and piloted by 46-year-old Captain Errol Pearson was damaged this afternoon after it reportedly “ran off” the runway and into some nearby bushes.

The Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said the incident occurred at about 16:18h at the Eteringbang Airstrip.

According to Captain Pearson, at about 14:32h, he departed the Ogle International Airport en route to Eteringbang airstrip with ten passengers -seven adults and three children.

On landing at Eteringbang airstrip, the plane could not “nudge” because of the heavy tailwind, which caused the plane to run off the runway and into nearby bushes.

This resulted in the left wing, nose, and left landing gear being damaged. No one was injured, the CCU said but noted that the plane is being guarded at the airstrip.
