One arrested over alleged cattle theft on East Coast

A 44-year-old man has been arrested as investigators probe the alleged theft of two heifers from a pasture at Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The incident reportedly occurred between about 5:30 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2026, and 6:00 am on Monday, March 16, 2026, and involved a 61-year-old farmer of Melanie Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara.
According to police, the farmer had left the two heifers grazing at the Bachelor’s Adventure pasture. However, when he returned later, the animals were missing.
Further enquiries led investigators to a location at Factory Road, Paradise, where the 44-year-old suspect was arrested. The beef and skin were recovered and lodged pending the outcome of the investigation.
One of the missing animals has since been recovered alive. Investigations are ongoing.
