“Of course they will be happy if I pack up and leave”- Jagdeo on APNU+AFC wanting him to resign

Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo on Tuesday signalled that he has no reason to resign since he has in no way misused his Government office.

The Vice President made this statement in light of a call from the A Partnership For National Unity + Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) for him to tender his resignation.

“Of course they will be happy if I just pack up tomorrow and leave in total and disappear..these are all allegations so far. If we had to investigate every person on the basis of what was clearly a revolt of an investor from a man who says that he can probably get some of their money and to share it with government officials,” the Vice President said in response to the Opposition call.

The Opposition’s call came after VICE News streamed a video titled ‘Guyana For Sale’ on Sunday evening, which sought to convey that the Senior Government Official was using his government office for personal gain. But the Vice President again today denied these claims and stood firm on his position that he will never take a bribe.

Jagdeo assured that he has submitted a list of all his assets to the Integrity Commission each year except for three years when the APNU+AFC was in power. This is because there was no commission in place at that time.

Jagdeo also noted that because of the bribery allegations against him, he would be taking legal action against ‘Su.’

The Opposition has since called for there to be an international investigation into the Vice President’s assets and income.
