Motorcyclist busted with over 1000 grams of marijuana
A 34-year-old motorcyclist was busted with over 1000 grams of marijuana at Tacama Junction, Region 10 on Sunday.
MTV News Update understands that Chadwain Eastman, of Ebini, Berbice River, was caught with the drugs at about 11:30h.
A statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that ranks were crossing the Berbice River on a pontoon at Tacama Junction when they spotted Eastman on an XR motorcycle with registration number HC 8990 carrying a multi-coloured haversack on his back.
Upon seeing the police vehicles, Eastman attempted to flee, but the officers pursued and caught him.
The haversack was searched, and ranks discovered a large parcel wrapped in transparent plastic. The parcel was opened in Eastman’s presence, and marijuana weighing 1,814.37 grams was found.
He was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested, and taken into police custody along with the motorcycle.
During questioning, Eastman claimed that he had acquired the motorcycle in December 2023 from an individual in Georgetown, who traded it for 12 lbs of marijuana.
