Man shot in the leg by security guard after confronting ex-lover at Eccles gas station
Stephen King, 30, of Evan Phillips Park, Agricola, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was shot in the leg on Saturday after he allegedly confronted his ex-lover at the Two Brothers Gas Station at Eccles.
Police said that at about 09:00h, Karen Bacchus was standing at one of the pumps when King rode in on a bicycle with a haversack on his back and confronted her.
Bacchus reportedly ran to the security guard, who has been identified as 54-year-old Woolworth Williams, for help, and it is alleged that King placed his hand in the haversack.
Upon seeing this, Williams drew his 9MM pistol and discharged a round in Kingās direction, which struck him on the lower left leg.
King then rode out of the gas station while Williams proceeded to the Providence Police station, reported the matter, and handed over the firearm and remaining ammunition to the police.
The police received information that King was at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and subsequently visited the facility. He had a black haversack in his possession, which was checked but contained only a bunch of keys. King was treated and arrested as the investigation continues.
