A 24-year-old unemployed man was today remanded to prison on a break-and-enter charge.

Kevin Augustine was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts and pleaded not guilty of the charge.

The charge stated that on February 23, 2022, at Sheriff and Dennis Street, he attempted to break and enter the dwelling house of Leslie Singh. He was remanded to prison until March 14, 2022.

The court heard that on the day in question, the victim heard a noise and decided to check outside. When he did, he saw the accused jumping from the roof while a window was already open.

The court further heard that Singh was chopped in his left hand by Augustine, who was at the time armed with a cutlass. In return, he fired a shot, scaring off James, who made good his escape.
