Man charged with murder of US-based Guyanese

26-year-old Eon Gonsalves was today charged with the murder of 21-year-old Lakan Chatterpaul, who was killed during a get-together.
Gonsalves of 1802 Crabwood Creek, Region Six made an appearance before Magistrate Alex Moore at the Number 51 Village Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the charge.
As such, he was remanded to prison until May 31, 2022, and the matter was transferred to the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.
On March 9, 2022, Chatterpaul and family members were having a get-together when the suspects arrived and began to destroy the vehicles belonging to persons at the party.
Chatterpaul and family members rushed out, where an altercation between the victim and the suspected ensued. During the row, the US-based Guyanese man was stabbed.
He was picked up and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
