Man, 60, nabbed with over 20 grams of marijuana

A 60-year-old man was on Sunday arrested at Third Avenue Bartica with 24 grams of marijuana.


The Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said the 60-year-old suspect, who hails from Second Avenue, Bartica, was arrested at about 01:12h.


Acting on information received, Police went to Third Avenue, Bartica, where they observed the suspect acting suspiciously.


The suspect began to flee between neighbouring yards and was apprehended by the Police. A search was conducted on his person, but nothing illegal was found.


A search was also conducted by the Police in the yard that the suspect ran through, and next to an oxygen tank, a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.

The suspect was told of the offence committed, cautioned, and arrested. He was escorted to Bartica Police Station and is in custody pending charges.
