Man, 28, struck down by truck on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway
A 28-year-old man died after being struck down by a motor lorry with a trailer on the Soesdyke, Linden Highway, in the vicinity of Silver Hill on Sunday.
Dead is Steven Dhanbeer of LaBonne Intention, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
A statement by the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said that motor lorry GNN 1385, with trailer TJJ3014, was being driven by a 27-year-old man of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
Reports are that the motor lorry with the trailer was proceeding north along the western side of the road when the front portion collided with the pedestrian who ran across the road from west to east.
As a result of the collision, Dhanbeer fell onto the road’s surface and sustained injuries to his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
