Mahaica fatal accident: Woman died from multiple injuries – PME

Dead: 44-year-old Shaziah Hoosain

A Post Mortem Examination (PME) conducted on the body of 44-year-old Shaziah Hoosain, who was killed in an accident along the Hand-En-Veldt Public Road, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Monday, has given the cause of death as multiple injuries consistent with a motor vehicle accident.

This was divulged by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Wednesday. Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh performed the examination at the Memorial Garden's Funeral Home.

“The body was handed over to the relatives for funeral arrangements,” the GPF said.

The GPF had reported that Hoosain was one of the four occupants in motorcar PJJ 485, which lost control and collided with a utility pole on the northern side of the road and subsequently crashed into a culvert.

As a result of the impact, the driver, 19-year-old Arfeen Arjune, and a 16-year-old male received injuries on their bodies. Police ranks who responded took the injured persons to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital, where Hoosain was pronounced dead.

The driver and the 16-year-old, who sustained a broken right leg, were subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where they were admitted.

A breathalyser test conducted on the driver showed his alcohol level to be .186 per cent and .183 per cent.
