International Chess Federation declares 2022 the Year of the Woman in Chess
The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has declared 2022 the Year of the Woman in Chess, in an effort to cultivate equity policies, practices and programs.
The FIDE women’s commission stated that they are continuously working to connect, inspire and educate female players of all backgrounds from around the world while creating a strong women chess community.
Major goals for this year include establishing a yearly award for women in various categories, collaborating with national federations in various countries, organising global exchange forums and feature more inspirational female role models.
