The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) shifts its gear distribution program to East Bank Cricket Association (EBCA), with a donation of over one million dollars’ worth of cricket equipment.

The presentation was made by the GCB President Bissoondyal Singh to EBCA President Puneet Jaigopaul in the presence of executives and players from various clubs on East Bank Demerara along with GCB executives.

In addressing the gathering, President Singh expressed delight in making what he referred to as a significant donation. Singh remarked that “The donation is important not only in monetary terms but its value to the youth players involved in the game on East Bank Demerara, allowing them to participate in training sessions and matches without having to consider the additional burden of purchasing gears. Consequently, we are happy that players took the time to attend this presentation which tells us about your interest in the game.”

President Singh praised the recent work done by the EBCA, “including the upgrade of the Farm Ground and the hosting of regular training sessions for players.”

President Singh also committed to making the Farm Community Centre ground an Academy Centre for males and females in GCB’s Planned Academy Program.

Additionally, he pointed out, that there will be five Academies in Demerara, six in Berbice and seven in Essequibo.

Further, President Singh stated that “The Territorial Development Officer, Colin Stuart will soon submit the detailed program requirements and needs for Cricket Academies across the Country.”
