Insanally Habibula, Founder of the Rising Sun Turf Club, has passed away at the age of 89.
Habibula, popularly known as ‘Sunny’, dedicated most of his life to horse racing, having founded the club in the early 1970s. He is also known for reviving the sport after the Durban Park facility he used to race at was closed down.
In August this year, he was able to witness the sport revived for the second time in his lifetime when he attended the Guyana Cup, held for the first time since 2019 after being absent due to the covid-19 pandemic.
