Law enforcement officials have arrested David Singh, a 39-year-old taxi driver from Lot 1246 Eccles New Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD), for his alleged involvement in a housing scam.
Â
Singh is accused of defrauding individuals by falsely claiming he could secure house lots for them through the Ministry of Housing.
Â
The Guyana Police Force’s Criminal Investigations Department is urging members of the public who believe Singh defrauded them to lodge a report at the Brickdam Police Station.
Â
According to investigators, Singh’s scheme involved obtaining money under false pretences by purporting to have connections within the Ministry of Housing.
Â
Authorities also revealed that Singh has two similar cases before the court and that new allegations have surfaced implicating him in defrauding additional victims.
Â
Police further noted that Singh allegedly used the names of Ministry officials and police officers, leveraging his status as a former member of the GPF, to intimidate and manipulate his victims.
