Fire Service contains grass fire at Turkeyen

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) has managed to contain a grass fire, which erupted at the University of Guyana Road, Turkeyen, on Thursday.

The Fire Service said it was alerted of the grass fire at about 10:54 h and swiftly dispatched firefighters to the scene.

On arrival, the firefighters noticed that the blaze threatened three buildings. As a result, they went into action and managed to contain the fire.

“The Fire Service urges residents and bystanders to cooperate with emergency personnel and follow any instructions provided for their safety and the successful extinguishment of the fire,” a statement from the Fire Service said.
