Farmer, 63, homeless after fire ravages Linden house

A fire of unknown origin completely destroyed a house located at Lot 164 B One Mile Extension, Wismar Linden, on Wednesday afternoon.


The fire reportedly started at about 18:30h, leaving 63-year-old Collins Joseph homeless.


The Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) told Police that at about 16:30h, he secured his house after finishing cooking and went to his daughter’s home at Blueberry Hill, Wismar Linden.


While there, he received a call from his neighbour informing him that his house was on fire.


He arrived at his home, which he saw engulfed in flames. The Linden Fire Service was summoned and immediately extinguished the fire. Investigations are underway.
