FAMILY FRIENDLY PARKS FOR BERBICE

Residents of region six, East Berbice Corentyne, can soon ecoect two newly constructed family recreational parks in an effort to beautify the surrounding and promote Tourism.

This was announced by President Dr. Irfaan Ali while spearheading a cleanup exercise in the region.


One of these parks will be constructed at Corriveton while another will be in New Amsterdam.


"We’re looking at enhanced park with safe zone for children and the elderly here in skeldon and New Amsterdam and that investment would be led by the Ministry of Public Works and Local Government."

the Head of State said.


This announcement comes following a cleanup campaign across several communities across the country following a call from the Head of State.


He was joined by several other officials which included Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall and others.


The cleanup exercise also included the planting of trees. A similar exercise has been reimburse in region 10.


Furthermore, in an effort to beautify the country, a safe space is being developed along the Lamaha corridor in Georgetown .The project entails a walkway, lights and a green space among other enhancement works.


Thus far, works are progressing along the area.
