East La Penitence man arrested at Den Amstel with marijuana
A 28-year-old man from East La Penitence, Georgetown, was arrested on Sunday after being found with 1,410 grams of suspected marijuana at an incomplete house in Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that at about 09:00h, ranks acting on information received went to Den Amstel, WCD, and saw the 28-year-old man.
One of the ranks identified himself to the suspect as a policeman dressed in “plain clothes,” and in the presence of the other ranks, he told the suspect of his suspicion.
The suspect was seen standing near a table with a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis, along with a bulky black haversack.
The haversack was searched, and two transparent plastic bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis were unearthed.
The suspect was cautioned, arrested, and escorted to the Leonora Police Station.
The suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 1,410 grams. The 28-year-old man was placed into custody pending charges.
