Timithy Paul Chance and Andre Benjamin, who is accused of killing Professor Pariedeau Mars, also called “Perry,” in the furtherance of a robbery, have changed their plea to guilty.

Last week, the duo was indicted before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the High Court for the capital offence of murder and pleaded guilty.

However, the two made another court appearance today and opted to plead guilty to the less count of manslaughter. They are now admitting that they unlawfully killed the Professor on May 12, 2026. They will be sentenced on June 9 at 15:00h.

The confessed killers are represented by Attorneys-at-Law Ronald Daniels and Kiswana Jefford, while Senior State Counsel Abigail Gibbs appears for the prosecution.

According to Police reports in 2016, 75-year-old Mars, of Bissessar Avenue, Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, was found bound and beaten in his home at about 18:30h on May 12, 2016, by his wife. He was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Naomi Adams, Nikkisha Dover, and Orin McCrae were all charged and sentenced for the Professor’s murder.

Being the first to confess to the crime, Adams was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, while her co-accused Dover and McCrae were sentenced to 12 years each. It was ordered that the prison authorities deduct the years spent on remand from each sentence imposed.

Investigations revealed that Dover was known to the now-dead Professor as she would visit his home. It was further revealed that the said accused confessed to conspiring with McCrae to rob the elderly man as he was home alone on the day of the incident.
